Rivers Casino and Resort in Schenectady NY

Room, hallways and elevators were very clean. Brand new comfortable bed, big fluffy down pillows, nice sheets, big TV, fridge and a nice modern bathroom. There are many other security guards walking around I felt very safe. They’re looking for underaged people and also checking backpacks and bags. Entering the casino there are security guards. Upon pulling into the indoor garage I felt comfort in the fact that it was very brightly lit and there are many surveillance cameras which are in plain sight. I was a bit skeptical about gaming and staying here due to the fact that Schenectady is not a very good neighborhood and I’ve read some bad reviews. Don't be surprised if you get locked out but hopefully Ariana is working to let you in.I wanted a couple of days to relax and be irresponsible so I took the Rivers Casino up on their offer for a room. If you are not a gambler but happen to go with one then checkout the outdoor space and lounge areas. In summary I have been to much nicer casinos but I guess if you want to gamble the Rivers casino will suffice. There were plenty of lounge areas and bars to relax and hang out. They have delicious desserts but the service was extremely slow. My other favorite spot was the Villa Italia bakery located right inside the casino.

There is an event center with conference space available which could be great for various events. All the doors are locked but a nice woman, Ariana, who was working the hotel desk had to let me in several times. While the outdoor space was inviting be careful that you don't get locked out. It was quite nice and relaxing with a path to walk along the river. I discovered some lovely outside spaces overlooking the river. The lobby area had a bar and was conducive to chilling. Very fast in the slots I checked out the premises. We parked in the parking garage to enter the casino and all you can smell is smoke from all the people who step out to the garage for a quick smoke. It is easy to find and parking seems to be plenty and free. When you drive in you feel like you are entering an industrial area. It seems to lack a certain ambiance but for the true gamblers I guess ambiance doesn't matter. The Rivers Casino would not be on my favorite casino list to visit. I am not a frequent gambler but my husband enjoys a trip to a casino now and then.
